Rachel’s artistic gifts were apparent at an early age. She grew up in a home that encouraged and nurtured creativity and artistic expression, where her natural talents found fertile ground in which to take root and blossom. Her genesis as a glass artist began with training at home with her father, glass artist Brian Milne. Her work as a glass artist has evolved over the years; her true love and preferred means of expression is fused glass. Her natural gifts for artistic expression have taken a number of forms throughout her life. Rachel toured for many years working as a caterer with rock bands, including The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith and Bruce Springsteen. After quitting the road to have a family Rachel went back to making her glass art and opened an art studio, RJK Studio in Cocoa beach, Florida.
Rachel creates glass art in fused and stained glass, including jewelry, platters, bowls, lanterns and wall hangings. She also takes commission work; her commission work includes freestanding panels, mirrors, clocks, platters, bowls, bathrooms (tiles, sinks, vanity’s, floor’s, backsplash, knobs) and anything else you could think of! The Dichroic Glass Collection is a fused glass process using layers of glass with precious metals & oxides including gold, silver, copper, chromium, titanium, aluminum. The word "dichroic" means "two colors" due to the mercurial nature of the metals in glass. The artist cannot reproduce two pieces alike. Incredible Heat flashing puts them into the gem family.
Rachel's work is a triumph of form, texture and color, and a true manifestation of her essential artistic self.
